are we replacing teaching and learning with blaming and shaming?

There have indeed been discussions here (and everywhere) about plagiarism.

While I don’t wish to enter the main debate I do want to say that what I observe (although hasten to add not experience) is that much of what is labelled plagiarism is faulty referencing and poor paraphrasing.

And I invite you to watch the wonderfully unsubtle Tara Brabazon and to consider her points. And to add that I (although perhaps not all my colleagues) agree with her. What do you think?

I like her points about creating assessments that are authentic, that help students avoid plagiarism.

I think she is a sensible woman with a uniquely Australian delivery style. Love her.
